Olga Shapovalova, Benchers Law Firm partner, attended the VI International Forum on Business Protection and delivered a report covering some pressing issues related to arrest of assets.

 

Olga’s report was centered on this, one the most sensitive issues in criminal proceedings, for a reason. Arrest of assets is a problem frequently encountered by members of the business community, and a business’s resilience and even survival often depends on how well this problem is resolved.

The Benchers partner drew the audience’s attention to the legislative norms that regulate the area of assets arrest and which must be taken into account while constructing a defense strategy. She also pointed out the key features of assets that may be arrested as part of criminal proceedings. The report also highlighted a number of pressing issues related to protection of business: from baseless interference of pre-trial investigation authorities into companies’ business activities, to petitions for arrest of assets filed by persons that lack the required procedural authority.
