Benchers Law Firm partners Myroslav Gnatyuk, Nataliya Gnatenko, and Olga Shapovalova attended the IX International Judicial Forum, organized by the Legal Practice publishing house under the aegis of the Supreme Council of Justice.
«The aim of our visit was to get a more detailed understanding of the current state of judicial practice, hear from experts and thought leaders in the fields relevant to us, and exchange views with colleagues on the progress of the ongoing judicial reform,» said attorney Myroslav Gnatyuk, a partner at Benchers Law Firm.
The two-day Forum, held on July 16-17, was attended by Ukraine’s leading legal professionals and judges, as well as top public servants, who had the opportunity to discuss the most crucial issues of the judicial reform, both in general terms as well as the particulars. Among issues discussed were the staffing of the judiciary in the areas of criminal, economic, civil, and administrative litigation, financing and access to justice, and property protection.
Benchers partner Nataliya Gnatenko is convinced that such events are very important for a deep understanding of the legal services market. This forum was very interesting for us, primarily because it gave us a broad view of the different opinions of our colleagues on a number of legislative bills. We were also able to hold in-person discussions of the most pressing issues, such as the importance of speeding up the review of criminal cases and improving rulings in this area, as well as other pending issues.
